Taffy Adler is director of the Braamfontein Urban Revitalisation Project at Wits University, leading the ‘Re-imagining Braamfontein’ programme initiated by the Vice-Chancellor, and the development of Wits’s Frankenwald property. He has over 35 years of experience in political and social activism, and leadership in the trade union movement, urban development and human settlements. He was previously CEO of the Housing Development Agency, a national public development agency that makes land and buildings available for the development of housing and human settlements. Adler was instrumental in the development of the Federation of South African Trade Unions, forerunner of the Congress of South African Trade Unions, and has held the position of CEO at the Land Investment Trust and at the Johannesburg Housing Company.
