AN EVENING TO MINGLE AND SALUTE THE 2012 COROBRIK SAIA AWARDS OF MERIT

This Corobrik sponsored event will be held on the 13th September at the City Hall in Cape Town. The President of the South African Institute of Architects, Fanuel Motsepe will open the conference with some inspirational words.

This function will be a great welcoming and networking function for delegates attending the AZA 2012 Conference, local and international speakers and VIP guests. The event will follow the SAIA AGM and start at 17:00.

At the event the 55 projects that received regional Awards for Architecture and put forward for Awards of Merit, will be showcased.

RESCRIPTING EXCELLENCE IN ARCHITECTURE – THE COROBRIK SAIA PRESIDENTIAL GALA DINNER

This Corobrik sponsored event will be held on the 14th September at the V&A Waterfront - the Lookout in Cape Town. The event will be a combination of great food, entertainment and discourse on architecture in South Africa. This celebration of Architecture starts at 19:30.

The highlight of the event will be the announcing of the Awards of Merit and the Awards for Excellence, the latter to be bestowed on those few projects recognized for their exceptional architectural qualities. Only projects which have received an Award of Merit are eligible for this award.

This workshop will give participants an understanding of how branding, marketing and communications can assist design offices to meet their design and commercial goals. It looks at the tools that are available to professionals to communicate with their marketplace and how these should be used to respond to the very specific needs of the professional firm. It looks at the relationship between the market, the marketing process and the architectural strategies that particular firms may wish to pursue. 

Participants can be students or professionals. Limited to 30 people. It's important that participants bring their laptops.

Juan Lago-Novás Domingo

Director Master in Architectural Management and Design
BArch, Escuela Superior de Arte y Arquitectura de Madrid (ES), MBA Escuela Politécnica de Madrid (ES), LPSF Harvard Business School (USA)

Professor Lago-Novás is PhD candidate at the ESAYA University of Madrid. His Research Proficiency is about architecture practices management and the implications of business decisions in their design strategy. He combines his professional practice as Principal of DSC Architecture, a research office for innovation in architecture, with his position as Vice Chairman of the Juan de la Cosa Foundation, an organization that helps to promote Spanish architecture internationally. Juan is also lecturer and visiting critic in various international universities.
