ONE CONFERENCE | For the first time AZA16 sees the full amalgamation of the professional and student conferences, doing away with different tiers of delegates. Students, professionals, and members of the public are all simply AZA delegates!
PROGRAMME | The programme is structured in a series of keynote lectures interspersed with parallel sessions where delegates may typically choose between two design-orientated sessions and one professional practice session.
SPEAKER INTERACTION | Longer-than-usual breakaway refreshment sessions between the more formal aspects of the programme are carefully programmed with creative activities, presentations, exhibitions and performances giving delegates the maximum opportunity to interact with speakers informally.
AWARDS PARTY | The much anticipated awarding of the Des Baker Competition and the annual after-party take place on Friday evening in conjunction with ArchiJam, a showcase of student musical talent. A party not to be missed!
SHARPEN YOUR SKILLS | Two masterclasses take place in the run-up to AZA. The Stanley Saitowitz Student Housing Masterclass is open to postgrads and professionals and the 3D Printing Workshop and Shootoff is a vertical studio and competition open to groups of students from all institutions.
ACCOMMODATION | Click here for a list of hostels well priced for the student budget.
TRANSPORT | The Gautrain provides a quick ride from the north (Pretoria, Sandton, Rosebank) to Park Station. From there, it is safe to walk to Wits in groups of at least 6 people, entering the campus via the east entrance on Jan Smuts Avenue. At night we recommend you use an Uber – team up with your friends to save on your trip with Uber.
WELCOME | We look forward to welcoming students from across the country to Wits and to Braamfontein!
